We find the influence of the Pogues, an Irish band that has itself initiated the associations between rock and Irish music … With Flogging Molly, their music is thus a strange association mixing the aggressiveness of punk, with themes and influences from Irish music. The band seems to like to combine heavy guitars with Irish instruments, the whole thing, punctuated by efficient drums. Very quickly, Flogging Molly started doing dates here and there in Los Angeles, and began to fascinate the public, who were particularly amazed by their energy which totally electrified the scene. Dave King was particularly attracted by hard rock, and then met different bands, with whom he played until 1997, when he met other musicians in a pub in Los Angeles, called “Le Molly Malone’s”.ĭave King quickly became friends with them, and ended up proposing to found a new band together, and agreed with them to create “Flogging Molly”.

The tour dovetails with this years North American leg of the Warped Tour, keeping the band on the road through mid August.ĭrunken Lullabies follows Flogging Mollys debut, Swagger, by two years, and was produced once again with Chicagos ubiquitous Steve Albini (who has worked withamong many othersWire, Pixies, Low, and Big Black).
